What chemical is used for etching?

by 陈琼 08 Apr 2023 0 Comments

The choice of chemical used for etching depends on the specific metal being etched and the desired outcome. Here are some common chemicals used in metal etching:

  1. Nitric acid: Nitric acid is commonly used to etch copper, brass, and bronze. It can also be used to etch stainless steel and other metals, but with varying results depending on the specific alloy.

  2. Hydrochloric acid: Hydrochloric acid is commonly used to etch aluminum and zinc. It can also be used to etch brass and copper, but with less precision than nitric acid.

  3. Ferric chloride: Ferric chloride is commonly used to etch copper, brass, and bronze. It can also be used to etch aluminum, zinc, and stainless steel.

  4. Ammonium persulfate: Ammonium persulfate is commonly used to etch copper, as well as printed circuit boards.

  5. Sodium hydroxide: Sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda, can be used to etch aluminum and some other metals.

These chemicals are typically used in a diluted form, as concentrated solutions can be dangerous to handle and can cause severe burns or respiratory issues. Proper safety precautions should always be taken when handling etching chemicals, such as wearing protective gloves, goggles, and clothing. It is also important to properly dispose of etching solutions, as they can be hazardous to the environment if not handled and disposed of properly.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
